Mark W. Ray is a native Texan and resident of Corpus Christi since 1972. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. His insurance experience spans 34 years, first as a commercial insurance agent with Swantner and Gordon Insurance Agency, before joining Borden Insurance in 2005. Mr. Ray specializes in oil and gas, lawyers' professional liability and other commercial property and casualty coverage.
He is Chairman of the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, and in that capacity recently created the CAT Committee for the IIAT, which will focus on and monitor the Insurance marketplace for Windstorm, Hail, Flooding and Earthquake risks. In addition, Mark is currently the Regional Vice-President for IMPACT, the political action committee for the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.
He is also an active community volunteer, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Coastal Conservation Association Texas, Chairman of the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation, within the Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and serves as a Director for the Building Conservation Trust. In 2018 Mark was honored to win the Harvey Weil Sportsman Conservationist of the Year Award. Mark is also active in the Coastal Bend Emmaus Community and First United Methodist Church.
